Autumnfest began in 1978 as an opportunity for residents and non-residents alike to enjoy the spirit of Woonsocket. Held Columbus Day weekend, the success of that first Autumnfest celebration became the model for subsequent events. Autumnfest features, a food court with lots of local favorites, midway rides for the kids, arts and crafts booths, great entertainment at the Band Stand and spectacular fireworks display. From the first Autumnfest celebration, the Woonsocket Rotary club has been a major sponsor of this event. The Rotary club has been the proud sponsor of the Beer Garden and Food Court Soda booth since the commencement of Autumnfest. Proceeds from this event have provided a major source of funding for many of the clubs philanthropic activities. The free festival is held at World War II Memorial Park, at Social and Pond Streets. Hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday. For more information visit www.autumnfest.org
